Business Description

Seres Restaurant is located in the Pearl District and has been serving the greater Portland area since 2003. We are the only Chinese restaurant to use organic and locally-sourced ingredient whenever possible. The history of our sauces go back to the legendary Uncle Chen who first brought Portlanders dishes and flavors such as Sha –Cha, Kung Pao, Peking duck, General Tso’s, Moo Shu, Ma Po and many more that have become synonymous with most Chinese restaurants today. Seres Restaurant is a modern, sustainable interpretation of classic Szechuan and multi-regional Chinese cuisine. What this means is that everything from ingredients to materials and practices follows a commitment to the health of diners as well as the planet. In addition to using primarily organic produce, Seres’ dishes feature naturally raised meats with no hormones, no antibiotics and a 100% vegetarian diet; sustainably-caught or naturally-raised seafood, natural soybean oil, and bean curd from Portland’s own OTA Tofu Company. Seres Restaurant practices not only waste recycling but participates in the city’s composting program. Seres also offer diners an entire gluten-free menu, and several gluten-free items during the bar’s popular happy hour. Wheat-free Tamari sauce is available to customers as a substitue for soy sauce by request. Essentially, you will still find every traditional long-loved Chinese food like fried rice, potstickers or Kung Pao chicken at Seres, however with a lightness and purity that are not only delicious but important.

This was my second time at Seres. The first time I wasn't that impressed. It wasn't bad, but it didn't live up to the hype I had heard. I wouldn't have came back, but we had a coupon to use so what the heck! This time it was much better. The food was very flavorful. The sauce on the chicken was amazing. Very good dish. The service was prompt and friendly. Well done Seres.

I've been a regular at Seres for about 3 years now and I consistently see the same staff. It's one of the few restaurants I go where they know me by name and offer good, personal service. I love their mongolian beef, hot and sour soup, and buddha's delight (for days when I want something light and fresh). 2 thumbs up for Seres Restaurant and their friendly staff.

Best Chinese in Portland! - 7/7/2011

This restaurant has been my favorite Chinese spot for almost 8 years now. The dishes I am addicted to: sesame beef, sungari fried rice, and their spicy string beans. There is no other Chinese restaurant in Portland that uses organic ingredients! The atmosphere is awesome, and they have a killer happy hour.
